Help for every walk.

Answers to the questions most PupMiles owners ask during their first week — and a direct line to a real human when the answer isn’t on this page.

Getting started

What do I need to use PupMiles?

An iPhone running iOS 17 or later. That’s it. No collar, no dongle, no extra hardware.

The first time you tap Start walk, iOS will ask for location permission. Choose Allow While Using App. PupMiles does not need “Always Allow” and never asks for it.

How do I add my pup?

Open PupMiles → tap PupsAdd a pup. Name is the only required field. Breed, age, and a photo are optional and help a little with personalization.

On the free plan you can add one pup. Pack Mode (Premium) lets you add more.

Do my walks sync to my other devices?

Yes, if you’re signed into iCloud on each device with the same Apple ID. PupMiles uses Apple’s private CloudKit container, so the sync is between your own devices — your data is not stored on our servers.

Walks & tracking

How accurate is the distance?

PupMiles uses the same iPhone GPS chip that powers Apple Maps. In open areas, expect accuracy within a few meters. In dense urban canyons or under heavy tree cover, GPS drifts a little — this is a hardware limit, not a bug. If a walk looks visibly off, tap the walk in history and choose Report walk so we can take a look.

Can I log a walk I forgot to record?

Yes. Open History and tap Add walk. Enter a rough duration and distance, and assign it to the right pup. Manual walks count toward your streak but are marked as manually entered.

Why did my walk stop recording?

Almost always one of three things: (1) location permission was downgraded in iOS settings, (2) Low Power Mode was enabled partway through the walk, or (3) the app was force-closed. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → PupMiles and set it to While Using the App. Turning Low Power Mode off during walks is usually enough to fix the rest.

Will the app drain my battery?

PupMiles only uses location while a walk is actively being recorded, and releases it the moment you end the walk. A typical 30-minute walk uses a few percent of battery. We don’t run background location monitoring outside of active walks.

Pack Mode

How do I turn on Pack Mode?

Pack Mode is part of PupMiles Premium. After upgrading, tap Pups → Add a pup as many times as you need. Each pup gets their own streak, history, and routine. Pack Mode turns itself on automatically when you have more than one pup in the household.

How do I log one walk to multiple pups?

On the Start walk screen, tap the pups who are joining this walk. PupMiles will split the walk stats to each of their weeks, count it toward each streak, and show the shared walk in everyone’s history.

Can two people in my household use the same pack?

PupMiles is currently a single-Apple-ID experience. Shared walks across two iCloud accounts is on our roadmap for a future release. In the meantime, many households solve this by running PupMiles on the Apple ID used for Family Sharing.

Subscription & billing

How much does Premium cost?

$4.99 per month or $29.99 per year. The annual plan works out to about $2.50 a month. Prices can vary slightly by region due to App Store pricing tiers; the exact price in your currency is shown in the app before you confirm the purchase.

How do I cancel?

Open iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → PupMiles and tap Cancel Subscription. You’ll keep Premium access until the end of your current period. Your walk history stays on your device whether you’re Premium or Free.

I was charged but don’t have Premium. What now?

Open PupMiles → Settings → Restore Purchases. This re-syncs your subscription status from Apple. If Premium still doesn’t appear, email us with your Apple receipt number and we’ll sort it out.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you’d like us to weigh in on your request, email us and tell us what happened — we’ll do what we can.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?

On your iPhone, and in your personal iCloud account (via Apple’s CloudKit private database). PupMiles data is not stored on our servers. We can’t see your walks, routes, or pup profiles. For the full detail, see our Privacy Policy.

Do you sell my location or walk data?

No. We do not sell, share, or transmit your walk or location data to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. We do not run ads inside PupMiles.

Can I export my walks?

Yes. Settings → Data & Privacy → Export Walks produces a CSV of all your walks across all your pups. If you want a specific date range or a different format, email us.

Troubleshooting

The app crashed or froze

Force-close PupMiles (swipe up from the bottom of your phone, then swipe the PupMiles card away) and reopen it. Your in-progress walk is saved and will resume. If it keeps happening, email us with the iPhone model and iOS version you’re on, and we’ll dig in quickly.

My streak reset and I don’t know why

PupMiles streaks are weekly — miss a day and you keep the streak. They reset only if a whole week ends below your weekly walk target. If your streak reset unexpectedly, email us with the pup name and a rough date; we can take a look together.

My iCloud data isn’t syncing

Check that iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive, and that PupMiles is switched on in the app list. Both devices must be signed into the same Apple ID. If it still doesn’t sync after 15 minutes on Wi-Fi, email us.

Delete your data

PupMiles does not use server accounts, so there is no account for us to delete on your behalf. Your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, and you control it directly.

Delete everything from the app

Open PupMiles → Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete All Data. This removes every pup, walk, route, and routine from your device and from your iCloud container. This cannot be undone.

Delete the app and all iCloud-stored walks

First, run Delete All Data inside the app. Then delete the app from your home screen. Finally, in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, you can remove any remaining PupMiles container.

Written deletion request

If you’d like a written confirmation that we hold no personal data about you outside of your own iCloud container, email bustedpixelmedia@gmail.com with the subject “Data request”. We’ll respond directly.
